I'm off to an adventure and hoping many of you will join me - cause I hate to be alone. And even though I'm old enough not to be scared, my stomach is flip-flopping - which is perhaps a good thing. I'll be careful.
I'm going to do a little project for a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) to see if their adherence to a new accountability framework has had a positive impact on the beneficiaries. Sounds dry. I hope it will all come to life when I arrive and can stop reading through audit papers and talk to the people instead. That's the part I'm looking forward to.
I'll be living with a family in a small village in the southern end of Malawi which is one of the poorest parts of the country. Malawi suffers from a continuous cycle of flooding and drought leaving people almost completely dependant on governmental subsidies and aid from NGO's. They suffer from chronic malnutrition, a very high rate of HIV/AIDS and malaria. The NGO I'll be working for runs water and food programs and are quite active in Malawi. It will be good to see all that we've studied put into practice.
I have to get busy packing and spending time with the kids before heading off on Sunday, March 1st.
Thanks for joining me.......PLEASE check in and see that I'm still blogging --- let's have a party---write back!!!!!
ok. I'm off.....to be continued......xxxxxxoooooooooo
